maroon-bells-prints
Maroon Bells | Prints

The Maroon Bells, two fourteeners near Aspen, get their reddish color from iron-rich mudstone laid down about 300 million years ago. That crumbly rock earned them the nickname "the Deadly Bells" among climbers. In my painting, I broke the peaks into bands of red and slate gray to echo those layers, with rolling green hills leading toward them and a foreground of fireweed, blue blooms, and purple asters.

That beauty also puts the area at risk. Visits have nearly doubled since 2014, and trampling has damaged the fragile alpine meadows, the very ones I painted. Trash, human waste, and illegal campsites add to the strain, while warming temperatures and wildfire threaten the landscape over the long term.

Sizes

12” x 12" | Giclée on Cotton Paper - includes a 1/4 inch inch white border.

24" x 24" | Giclée on Cotton Paper - includes a 1/2 inch white border.

Made to order - returns are not accepted.

Please do not order mats or frames until after the prints arrive - slight variations may occur.

Generating awareness around threatened species and wildlands through affordable and functional art.

We are a 1% for the Planet Member, which means will are committed to giving at least 1% of our sales to partner organizations.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0047/9585/9057/files/MaroonBellsSmallPrintMockupKatherineHomes.png?v=1791909444
