Ukulele | KATHERINE HOMES
These small guitar-like gizmos have an interesting past. Born in Hawaii around the 19th century, after Hawaiians were introduced to the machete, a similar instrument from Portuguese immigrants. There are a few instruments that can relax the soul as effortlessly as the ukulele. You can almost hear the soothing waves of Wailea beach with each strum. This highly emotive instrument became an international obsession in the 20th century, and, for bands like the Beatles, was used for writing songs while on tour because of its portability and incredible tone. As a musician, Katherine has a special connection with this instrument, and truly believes in its power to convey an incredible sense of calm that the world could certainly use more of.
