Fleeing Giraffe
We felt this topic was so important we dedicated 4 styles of hats to this issue and we wanted to make sure our youth knew it as well. Informing our children of these issues can make all the difference in raising aware and compassionate children - children that become adults who can break the cycle of the war on the wild.
While this design is beautiful and whimsical it actually highlights a very devastating truth about giraffes. The tallest mammal in the world which is also peaceful, and Herbivorous (they only eat plants) is one of the most hunted animals.
Fragmentation, habitat loss and illegal poaching critically threaten three species of the giraffe, Kordofan, Nubian, and Reticulated giraffe.
They are poached for their meat, pelts, bones, tail, and hair. What if you were hunted for your beauty? Would you try and run from it? That is exactly what this giraffe is doing, it is fleeing from the beautiful spots on its pelt.
Wear this hat and when people comment on how beautiful it is, make sure you tell them the truth of their story. Thank you for doing your part and educating the public on this issue. The more we know, the more we can help protect them.
