There's a particular kind of quiet that only exists out on open water; no notifications, no noise, just the rhythm of your paddle and your own breath. If you've been feeling pulled toward something slower and more honest, but haven't had the time or space to explore that, this trip was built for that.

Join Katherine Homes on a 6-day sea kayaking retreat along the turquoise coastline of Loreto Bay, Mexico, where you will kayak, snorkel, and paint the days away.

Some of you will arrive knowing no one. Most everyone leaves with a small, tightly-knit group of friends, a new visual language for noticing the world and themselves, and a genuinely calmer nervous system.
Each day blends three things we care about deeply: movement, attention, and stillness. Each day allows for roughly four hours of sea kayaking along the bay's protected waters and about three hours of art instruction, including color theory, watercolor mixing, foundational drawing, and a more intuitive and meditative approach to painting.
The landscape does most of the teaching itself: desert cliffs meeting turquoise water, migrating whales if we're lucky, seabirds most days. It's a reminder that we are all connected, and when we give ourselves the space to reconnect with the wild and listen to its wisdom, we find we've had the answers within us all along.
You'll wake up to sunlight through your tent and the sound of birds or lapping waves instead of an alarm. You'll fall asleep salt-skinned and worn out in a good way, after a full day and a delicious meal. Somewhere in the middle of all that (the paddling, the painting, the company), most people find they've quietly reconnected with themselves, without ever trying to force it.
We're partnering with Sea Kayak Adventures because Baja isn't a side destination for them - it's where they started. Founded in 1993 by guides who got their start on the Sea of Cortez, and now backed by ROW Adventures, they've spent over 30 years learning these exact waters: the currents, the campsites, and the wildlife patterns around Loreto Bay.

That depth of experience means our guests can fully relax into the art, meditation, and wildlife viewing, trusting that the paddling, safety, and camp logistics are in expert hands. It also means we're traveling with people who genuinely care about this place - their guides are trained conservationists as much as paddlers, and that ethos of protecting the waters we explore fits naturally with what this retreat is all about.
