Colorado Greenback Cutthroat Trout
The Colorado Greenback Cutthroat Trout is our, Colorado, official state fish and is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Once widespread from the Arkansas River to the South Platte, sadly, due to overfishing, mining, and agricultural water diversion the Greenback now only occupies 1% of its historical river range, which is obviously a very bad thing if you love fishing, animals, or just love showing nature its proper respects.
We think that everyone who spends time in the wild has more understanding of it and in turn, seeks to protect it when given the opportunity. We love fishermen, fisherwomen, and fisher children! We understand the excitement when a fish is caught on the line! The calm you feel standing in the river or lake at dawn or dusk. The act of connecting with the wild. But from someone who doesn't fish (hi, it's me, KT) why not do all of this without catching or harming the fish? I have a challange for you: the next time you are out there, find a couple of minutes doing the act of fishing but without the fly (hook) and see if you enjoy the experience.
Bigger conversation for a later time, but we'd love to hear your thoughts on this! #bold #peaceful #fishing.
